Sweden ’09 – Part 2 – You Can Agree With Me Or You Can Be Wrong!
After arriving very late the night before we had quite a lazy morning. Then when we did get up I was welcomed by Isabella and had a bowl of museli for breakfast as I only ever do in Sweden but then almost immediately we started preparing the lunch. David and Lisa joined us and we ate outside in the sunshine.
We went for a little walk through the forrest with the dogs, Billy and Smilla. We found a few berries that we could eat and I took a few photos of the various lifeforms in the woods, at one point found myself under attack by a colony of red ants! It did feel like we were getting a bit lost and yet when we emerged again we were right back where we started, it was a bit like being in Monkey Island!
Later on we went to a shopping centre and I clocked Andreas, it was so funny! We hadn’t seen each other in ages and that was in a different country so we didn’t know that we were both here but he looked my way and you could almost see his mindset as he thought I looked like someone he knows but that it could actually be me and then the look of surprise to realise that yes it really was me!! I don’t know too many people in this little town so it was so cool to see him and a bit of a strange coincidence as well!
We bought some wine for the evening and went home to make some Spag Bol. I spent most of these early days in the kitchen preparing and eating food. You would think that this should make me gain some much needed weight but no such look!
As we ate dinner we got a chance to talk with Kenth and then watched a crazy singing programme on TV called Lotta På Liseberg which I guess is a bit like Karaoke with special guests but you sing altogether as a crowd and the presenters pass the microphone to random people in the audience, it’s very strange but actually really common place here in Sweden and everybody seems to have a good time.
We saw a few old slides of the family which I think cheered Kenth up a bit more and then we left for a late trip to Varnhem to visit some a friend of Isabella and her family. They were such a pleasure to meet and had a really nice home, we were offered wine and had a good evening, it is also where the title reference comes from.
When we got back I tried to crack into “Bob” the wireless network that I had set up two years ago but my memory has failed me yet again! I thought I knew what the password was having set it up myself but no such luck. Tired and frustrated we just went to bed!
The following days weren’t quite as eventful as the first…
Me and Anna tried to clear out some of her things and I tried on some very weird clothes – just for fun though!
I met Anna’s Auntie Ing-Marie and Uncle Orvar who I had first met last summer and also her cousin Magnus who I had never met before.
We had a lot of nice food. I even made Shepards Pie for everybody! Like I said there was a lot of time spent in the kitchen!
I received a present from David and Lisa, it was a pair of sunglasses! I really needed them here so that was very thoughtful of them! We have seen both of them pretty much every day which has been really cool!
We visited Anna’s grandma who was a bit under the weather but we stayed with her for a bit and watched Miss Marple – which I have never ever seen before! It wasn’t too bad actually…
The weather was constantly changing so when it was nice it didn’t stay nice for long so these days just somehow passed us by. During the miserable weather we played a lot of new card games including “Four Man’s Twist” and “Seven” which are quite funny games, slightly addictive and somewhat competitive. The bad weather was getting us down a bit, this was supposed to be our summer holiday and the time flies so fast but it is just great to be here and spending some time with everyone even though there are some sad things around, we are just hoping for the best!
